As a long-time small business owner in Minneapolis, I understand the razor’s edge that many of our favorite local businesses face. Even in the best of economic times, a single accident, repair, or emergency can be the determining factor in whether or not the doors stay open. On top of just trying to stay afloat, small businesses employ our friends, families, and neighbors. A few too many bad days can mean dozens of people losing their jobs. It’s a tough position to be in.
We are facing uncertain times. While corporations are thriving, small businesses are facing life changing decisions. They contribute infinite resources to our communities, yet struggle the most when times get tough.
That’s why I was happy to sign off on a petition Protect Your Hometown Business. I hope that Governor Walz sees the positive impact that local businesses have on Minneapolis, and how support for them is now critical.
